Star Ghana Foundation is to establish a disaster fund to be known as Northern Ghana Flood Fund to provide critical support to communities affected by unexpected disasters in the north.

The Executive Director of the foundation, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, disclosed this in Tamale yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John Nburidiba, to brief him on some of the activities of the foundation in the region and also to congratulate him on his appointment as northern regional minister.

He said last year for instance was a year that farmers in the northern region experienced a huge devastating drought that negatively affected them.

“We will continue to collaborate to support and work closely with the five Regional Coordinating Councils of Northern Ghana to facilitate the Northern Ghana High-Level Dialogue on Peace and Security,” Alhaji Amidu stated.

He said their initiatives would continue to enhance coordination between state and non-state actors to promote peace and development in the region.

The Executive Director added that, the Foundation would also continue to build on its existing partnerships with relevant stakeholders to demonstrate its dedication to advanced regional growth and stability in various sectors across the country.

He said this year their main focus would be on promoting peace, security, and development in Northern Ghana.

“One key activity is the Annual Northern Ghana Development Summit, which brings together stakeholders to discuss strategies for ensuring peace and development in the region, ”he added

Alhaji Amidu also stated that, another important initiative the foundation was earmarking was the Northern Ghana Peace and Security Dialogue.

This, according to him, involved working closely with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and other security agencies to ensure peace and security in the region.

He stated that, the foundation was committed to peace and security in their work on the Conflict Security and Stability Fund Northern Ghana Project.

This, he said, the initiative was a demonstration to their dedication to addressing regional challenges and promoting sustainable development in the region.

The Northern Regional Minister, on his part commended Star Ghana Foundation for their commitment to regional growth and stability across the five regions of the north.

He said their visit was a testament to the strong partnership between the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) and Star Ghana Foundation which, he said, had been an instrument in driving development initiatives in their operational regions.

He urged them to continue with their collaborative efforts in promoting peace, security, and development in Northern Ghana.

The minister also called on them to deepen more of their commitment to working closely with regional stakeholders to address the unique challenges facing Northern Ghana.
