The Ojude Oba festival is a vibrant cultural celebration held annually by the Ijebu people in Nigeria.

This festival takes place in Ijebu Ode, the historic capital of the Ijebu Kingdom, located in Ogun State. It is a significant event that showcases the rich heritage, unity, and cultural pride of the Ijebu community.

Ojude Oba translates to “The King’s Court” or “The King’s Gathering.” It is a time when different age groups, known as regberegbes, and family compounds, called Ituns, come together to pay homage to the Awujale, the paramount ruler of Ijebuland.

It began over 200 years ago during the reign of Oba Adesimbo Tunwase. CLICK HERE to test your knowledge about the colourful festival.
