Steph De Lander shares her thoughts on potentially returning to WWE.

Steph De Lander signed with WWE in March 2021. She was featured on NXT as Persia Pirotta, a friend of Indi Hartwell, before they later feuded. WWE released De Lander in a wave of cuts in April 2022. Since then, De Lander has been on a buzzworthy run on the independent scene. She has aligned with Matt Cardona and competed throughout the wrestling world.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Steph De Lander discussed potentially returning to WWE. (H/t Chris Van Vliet for the quotes in this article.)

“I think that’s definitely the end goal, but it’s not like I’m rushing to get there,” Steph De Lander said. “And I think, when I had that mentality switch, that’s when things started coming together for me too. Because when… I got released, the first thing I did was I texted Matt Bloom, I said, How do I get my job back? And I got him on the phone, I said, What do I need to do?

“I spent the next couple of weeks like what’s going on? How do we undo this? And then I thought about and I would dream about it all the time, and it was this unhealthy obsession with like, all I want to do is get back there. And then once I kind of let go of that, and I made peace with what I was doing.”

Steph De Lander: I’m Focused On Doing What I Need To Do

Steph De Lander then described how she had to learn “pack up that WWE box”. In doing so, she would allow herself to focus on what she was doing on the independent scene. She stated that she has leaned on having faith in doing what she needs to do in order to get new interest from WWE and elsewhere.

“I realized if I do the indies begrudgingly, and I do it dragging my feet, and I do it not really enjoying it, always looking to the next thing, I’m not going to have fun, and I’m not going to put out my best work,” Steph De Lander said. “So I kind of had to like pack up that WWE box and put it away and really focus on what I was doing. And then have the faith and know that if I do what I need to do, and I work really hard and I commit fully to this. The end result will be I be getting new interest from WWE and from elsewhere, which I have, because of how hot our act is.”
