Sterling K. Brown received his first Oscar nomination and his This Is Us family is sending love to the actor.
The cast of the NBC drama, which ended in 2022, is feeling proud of Brown after the actor was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role of Randall Pearson in American Fiction.
Mandy Moore, who played Brown’s adoptive mother in the drama, shared a message on her Instagram Stories celebrating the nomination.
“What a day!! Congrats and Love you, Sterling K. Brown. You deserve it all!!!” Moore wrote.
Chrissy Metz also took to Instagram Stories to congratulate her on-screen brother writing, “Congratulations!”
Chris Sullivan shared Brown’s video and captioned it, “SKB! Win em all! Congratulations buddy!”
This Is Us co-creator Dan Fogelman also took a moment to congratulate Brown, posting on X, “Proof that I knew him when, and that I could always make him pretend laugh. Congrats @SterlingKBrown on your OSCAR NOMINATION! Wow!”
After Brown found out he was nominated at the Academy Awards, he shared a video reacting to the news.
“I want to [say] thank you to the Academy,” he said in the video shared on Instagram. “For somebody who’s been watching the Oscars their whole life — I’ve never been.”
He continued, “Somebody told me it was history being made and that both Jeffrey and I are the first time that two Black actors in the same movie for lead and supporting got nominated. So it’s nice to be part of a little bit of history, which is really, really cool.”
