EXCLUSIVE: Troy Winbush (The Wilds) has joined the cast of NBC‘s drama pilot Suits: L.A., an expansion of the Suits universe from Aaron Korsh.
Winbush will portray Kevin in a guest star capacity that will be bumped up to recurring if the pilot is picked up to series. Kevin is Ted Black’s (Stephen Amell) old friend and ex-partner who is a former FBI agent and now a private detective.
Suits L.A. centers on Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles after joining forces with his old buddy, Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt), to build Black Lane Law, which specializes in criminal and entertainment law.
The firm is at a crisis point and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel leading Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.
Lex Scott Davis also stars.
Suits: L.A. is not a reboot or revival but a brand extension in the vein of the CSI and NCIS franchises featuring new characters in a new location.
Suits and Suits: L.A. writer and creator Korsh executive produces alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman and Gene Klein, who were EPs with him on the original series. Victoria Mahoney directs and executive produces the pilot. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio. The team also includes original Suits casting director Bonnie Zane.
Troy Winbush was a series regular on The Wilds for Amazon Prime and has been featured in numerous series, including ABC’s The Goldbergs, Fox/ABC’s 9-1-1, NBC’s Chicago Fire, CBS’ The Neighborhood, CBS’ CSI: Vegas, ABC’s Scandal and CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.
Additionally, Winbush’s film credits include John Q, The Replacement and National Treasure. On stage, he has appeared in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Pearly Victorious, Gang on the Roof, among several other productions.
He is repped by Javier Salgado at Chamber 37 Entertainment and Daniel Hoff Agency.
