Suniel Shetty recalls being at gunpoint during Kaante shoot in US
Speaking on Chanda Kochhar’s YouTube channel, Shetty recalled, “I was taken at gunpoint because I had this beard. We had just started shooting again a few days later. I was walking into the hotel, got into the lift, and realized I had forgotten my keys. There was an American gentleman there, and I asked him, ‘Do you have the keys? Because I forgot mine and my staff is out.’ He ran out and created a commotion. Within moments, armed cops stormed in and yelled, ‘Down or we shoot!’”
He also revealed how he was completely in shock in that moment and shared, “I didn’t know what was happening. So I had to go down on my knees. They handcuffed me.” The actor further adds how the incident impacted him and stated, “That’s when the production came, and one of the managers was a Pakistani gentleman in the hotel. He came there and he said, he is an actor. All that we’ve been through that time, it was insane. I didn’t know what was going to happen next because there was so much commotion and my beard was that jawline beard,” he recalled. “I thought he didn’t understand the language, maybe he didn’t speak English. So I gestured key, lift, it worked against me.”
Kaante, which was loosely inspired by Reservoir Dogs, also starred Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kumar Gaurav. On the work front, the actor has interesting lineup one of which includes Welcome To the Jungle. Suniel will also reprise his role for Hera Pheri 3.
