‘Sunset Blvd.’ Starring Nicole Scherzinger Announces Broadway Closing Date

Sunset Blvd., director Jamie Lloyd’s reimagined production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical with the critically acclaimed Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond, will play its final Broadway performance on July 13.

The announcement was made this afternoon on Instagram. No explanation was given, but Scherzinger had previously indicated that she would stay with the show for nine months. Previews began September 28, 2024, and opening night was on October 20.

The musical’s attendance at the St. James Theatre has been slipping in recent weeks – last week, just about 88% of seats at the venue were occupied – but the production is likely to score some Tony Award nominations this spring, with Scherzinger considered an all-but-certain Best Actress nomination. The Tonys will be handed out on June 8.
