The ex-Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has described Governor Caleb Mutfwang‘s victory as a triumph for democracy, opposing the intentions of anti-democratic elements.

Jang advocated for the reversal of judgments that ousted PDP members from the National and State Assembly positions in the state.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for refraining from interfering in the judicial process despite pressure from the same anti-democratic forces.

Jang communicated these sentiments via his Media Consultant, Clinton Garuba, in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

His remarks came in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday, which confirmed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s election victory.

He said, “Senator Jonah Jang receives with great joy the news of the Supreme Court judgement affirming Governor Caleb Mutfwang as the duly elected Governor of Plateau state. Surely, it is because of God’s mercy that He has allowed us to witness the good news today.

“Indeed, the governor’s victory at the Supreme Court is a victory for democracy and against the wishes of anti-democratic forces.

“We recall with sadness how anti-democratic forces tried as much as possible to manipulate the will of the people without success.

“We must thank the justices for upholding the Rule of Law, thereby affirming the long-held belief that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.

“We thank them for not allowing themselves to be manipulated because we are aware that the same forces of darkness, in their usual manner, had wanted to thwart the mandate of the people, plunge the state into disarray and set us years backwards.

“But we thank God because that evil intention was not allowed to stand as the voice of the people is the voice of God.

“We thank Plateau people for their vigilance, for trooping out in their hundreds and thousands in condemnation and resistance after the miscarriage of justice by the Court of Appeal.

“They all came out to lend their voices against the injustice; we salute your resilience“, he maintained.

Jang thanked the media for escalating the people’s voice against “evil manipulation and injustice” and for standing for what is right.

He acknowledged the president’s concern for Plateau State’s affairs and urged further action against the genocidal war declared by dark forces.

While lamenting the damage caused by the Court of Appeal’s miscarriage of justice, he affirmed hope in rectifying the situation through a petition to the National Judicial Council.

Jang emphasized the abnormality of those affected remaining legislators and called for the restoration of the people’s true representatives.

He urged unity among the people of Plateau State, expressing confidence in eventual victory and the preservation of their heritage under Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s committed leadership.

We specially thank Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not interfering in the judicial process despite the pressure by the same forces of darkness.

“We take this opportunity again to express our gratitude to Mr President for his concern in the affairs of Plateau state.

“The people are indeed grateful and want him to do more on the issue of genocidal war that has been declared on the state and its people by the same forces of darkness who are hell-bent on appropriating, albeit forcefully, our God-given heritage“, he admonished.

As sad as it is, the damage that has been done to Plateau by the miscarriage of justice at the Court of Appeal is in great proportion because the kind of judgment that was delivered by the lower court has robbed the people of their rightful representation both at the state and the National Assembly. But all hope is not lost”, he explained.

“The good people of Plateau State through the government of Plateau State and the Peoples Democratic Party have already petitioned the National Judicial Council to review all the judgements involving Plateau State that were delivered by the Court of Appeal, which effectively stopped those that have been elected to the national and the state houses of Assembly from representing their constituencies.

“With the Supreme Court judgement, it has become an abnormality for them to remain as legislators when they could not win elections at the polls; this should not be allowed to stand.

“The authorities must give back to the people their true representatives and restore their mandate”, he admonished.

We, therefore, call on the good people of Plateau State to stand very united and strong because at the end of the day.

“We are going to come out victorious, and our God-given heritage will stay, the dignity of Plateau man will be upheld, and development will be scattered all around Plateau state as the Government of Governor Caleb Mutfwang has shown manifest commitment in these regards. We hope he will continue in that light,” he concluded.
