Kanguva and Vettaiyan are not clashing at the box office it seems. Actor Suriya starrer had locked October 10 for its release; however, Rajinikanth too chose the same date to release his latest offering. However, the clash was avoided when Suriya confirmed that Kanguva had been postponed. At the audio launch of Karthi-Prem Kumar’s Meiyazhagan, Suriya revealed that Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan should be released due to his 50-year legacy and that he has been entertaining people since inception.
Suriya confirms no clash between Kanguva and Vettaiyan
He said, “On October 10, Rajinikanth sir’s Vettaiyan is releasing. Respecting the Superstar’s 50-year legacy, and the fact that he has been entertaining us right from our birth, I think his film should come. He has been the identity of Tamil cinema, and I hope you will support my decision.”
A video from the event also surfaced on social media and the tweet read, “Suriya’s emotional speech about #Kanguva: “Superstar #Rajinikanth is the identity of Tamil cinema. Releasing #Kanguva with #Vettaiyan is not right choice. #Kanguva is like a child, please pray for the movie, there are lot of efforts went into the movie“
Talking about Kanguva, Suriya also added, “Kanguva is the result of a lot of hard work of over 1000 people for 2.5 years to deliver a really special film for Tamil cinema. I believe that hard work will not go to waste, I believe you would give the love and respect the film deserves. I hope you support me, and make the birthday a celebration, almost like a festival. Your love and support is always needed.”
Featuring Suriya and Disha Patani as the titular characters, the film also has Bobby Deol as a villain. Directed by Siva, Kanguva features cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and musical score by Devi Sri Prasad. The Kanguva release date is yet to be announced soon.
