The stakes are going to be high as Barcelona take on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

After securing a 3-2 victory in the first leg, Barça only require a draw in order to qualify for the semifinal. But the game is far from over, knowing PSG will do everything they can to stage a comeback.

Football fans back Barcelona

However, optimism is not very strong among football fans in France, as far as PSG’s chances of qualification are concerned.

A survey carried out by Odoxa (h/t Mundo Deportivo) suggests only 44% of football fans believe PSG can turn it around tonight and qualify for the semifinal.

The rest 56% back Barcelona to qualify for the final four of the UEFA Champions League by eliminating the Ligue 1 champions.

Optimism grows a bit more when it comes to PSG supporters. About 63% of PSG fans believe the club can still turn it around against Barcelona this evening.

The majority of the PSG fans, however, were disappointed at their team’s performance rather than rating Barcelona’s performance in the first leg.

About 65% believed PSG lost the game due to their own futility rather than Barcelona besting them at Parc des Princes.

The optimism from PSG fans does not hinder the fact that they are extremely disappointed at the team’s performance in the first leg. About 67% of fans were unhappy with the club’s display at home.

It must be noted that on March 15, the day the UCL quarterfinal draw was held, L’Equipe conducted a survey among its readers. About 82% opted for PSG to qualify for the semis.

That equation appears to have changed as the two sides battle it out in Barcelona tonight.
