Before becoming an actress, Ash earned a degree in pre-medicine and had planned on attending medical school.

However, after becoming a backup singer and a runway model following a trip to Japan, she decided to pursue an entertainment career.

In 2006, Ash landed roles in the Broadway show “The Lion King” and the comedy show “The Big Gay Sketch Show.” Two years later, she joined the cast of “MADtv,” becoming the fifth Black female cast member in the show’s history.
