‘Survivor’ Season 47 Finale Expands To Four Hours; Will Air Over Two Weeks

The Season 47 finale of Survivor will be bigger than ever. Instead of one three-hour final episode, which we’ve seen up to this point in the long-running competition series, the Season 47 finale will be split into two parts, two hours each, airing over a two-week period, Deadline has confirmed.

Part one of the finale will air Dec. 11 on CBS from 8 to 10 pm ET/PT, followed by the second half on Dec. 18, also from 8-10 pm. 

Survivor began expanding the length of episodes in Season 45, from 60 to 90 minutes, and has since stayed with that format, with an occasional two-hour episode dropping throughout the season.

Per the Season 47 logline, Survivor is the ultimate test of physical and mental stamina as castaways begin the adventure of a lifetime while stranded on the stunning islands of Fiji. This latest group of competitors must form a new society and adapt to their physical and social surroundings while contending with unexpected obstacles and navigating an ever-evolving social game.

In the most recent episode 9, castaways must choose wisely as they split themselves into pairs at a crucial multistaged immunity challenge; the deck is stacked against them when they embark on a journey that can drastically affect their game.

In that Nov. 13 episode, former Lavo tribe member Sol was ousted thanks to a plan masterminded by his former ally Genevieve. Nine players remain in the running for the million dollar prize and Sole Survivor title – Gabe Ortis, Teeny Chirichillo, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, Andy Rueda, Caroline Vidmar, Kyle Ostwald and Sue Smey.
