It has been almost two years since I have been single, to be precise since 2021… I am not in a relationship. I have some incredibly wonderful people in my life who are my friends and they are all just waiting for a moment for me to call them and say, ‘Look, I’m pulling the car out, get in the backseat. We’re driving to Goa’,” she says. When the host asked her if she is interested in anyone, Sushmita said, “I am not even interested in anyone at the moment. It is lovely to take a break because I was in a relationship for almost five years. And that was a long time”.

Sushmita recalls being called ‘bad influence’ for using word sex
The actress who never shies away from sharing her opinions, recalls, “At that point the society was not open as it is today. It still has it’s ‘Haww’ moments. But back then everything was a ‘haww’. My mom and dad had to sit me down at times and say, ‘there’s a lot riding on your shoulders. Can you try just to curb a little bit of what you are saying or why use the word sex at 18 in an interview. A Shobha De is writing badly about you and I remember her name coming up specifically. Because we were Bengalis, so only intellectual articles bothered them and not gossipy ones.”
On being crowned as Miss Universe, she says, “I understood what they said but later I purposely brought up the word s*x during an interview with Shobha De. The reason behind that was I wanted to be a liberated human being, someone who was truly free. So if in that attempt I became India’s first Miss Universe, it was that freedom that led me to it. Now I win it, and everyone is trying to curb that freedom. I had to fight it really hard and at that time because some mums and dads thought I am a bad influence on children because I was so outspoken about a lot of things.”
Rhea Chakraborty is launching her new podcast, ‘Chapter 2,’ marking a fresh chapter in her career. The podcast aims to foster deeper connections through engaging conversations and personal stories, reflecting Rhea’s journey of resilience and growth.
