Swerve Strickland explains why Floyd Mayweather appeared at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 last night.

The AEW Champion defended his title against Christian Cage in one of the main events of the show. Despite interference from The Patriarchy, he fought off attacks from Nick Wayne and Killswtch to retain his title.

After the match, Swerve Strickland celebrated in the crowd. One of the people there was Floyd Mayweather. The undefeated boxing legend has previously wrestled at WrestleMania 24 against The Big Show.

Speaking at the Double or Nothing 2024 post-show scrum, Swerve Strickland explained how Mayweather’s appearance came about. He revealed that the boxer is a friend of Flash Garments, the company that Swerve recently collaborated with on his signature shoe.

Because of this, Mayweather gets free tickets for AEW shows. Swerve has been trying to get him involved for the past two years, and he finally appeared at last night’s show.

“Floyd has been a friend of ours, my man Flash Garments over here. He gets a free pass every time he comes to All Elite Wrestling because once again, we’re here to grow to this company and we’re here to bring something to All Elite Wrestling, not just take. We want to give, like if we have opportunities and connections, we’re going to bring them here every single time. And we want to blow this place up, and we want to be the catalysts of it.”

“So that’s how Floyd came here. We’ve actually been talking to Floyd for like two years now, like his whole family trying to have him come every time we’re in Vegas. So finally, he was like, ‘Alright. This is the day we’re pulling up.’ So he pulled up and made it to the match. We pulled out a banger in front of him, he’s like, ‘I’m in.’”
