Sydney Sweeney is opening up about Madame Web after the Sony and Marvel film opened to disappointing box office results and reviews.
The Euphoria star is seemingly unfazed by the negativity around the film and is only along for the ride.
“I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen,” Sweeney said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
Sweeney took a swipe at Madame Web when she hosted Saturday Night Live, reminding the audience that they may know her from the HBO drama series or the film Anyone But You.
“You definitely did not see me in Madame Web,” she quipped.
Madame Web opened to $51.5M worldwide, way below the reported $80M budget. Following the experience of starring in a superhero movie, Dakota Johnson said she wouldn’t see herself working in a similar universe anytime soon.
“I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now,” Johnson said in an interview with Bustle.
She continued, “Sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’ But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.”
