The contractor working on the 23-kilometre Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta dual-carriageway in the Western Region has appealed to residents living along the project site to be patient with the contractors, as they were doing everything possible to complete the project to save them from the incessant dusty situation.

The contractors, Messrs Justmoh Construction Limited, made the appeal in reaction to concerns of residents about the need to tackle the “dusty situation” and the “inconvenience motorists faced” on a daily basis.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection of progress of work on the Kwesiminstim through Apremdo, Apowa stretch on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of Justmoh Construction Ltd, Dr Justice Amoh, indicated that for the past one month, the weather had been good, but, assured, engineers would ensure the periodic watering of the project sites along the corridors, especially with the onset of dry weather would continue.

Dr Amoh assured that the teams were keen to ensure the project was completed on schedule for the benefit of the communities and the nation at large.

The project, when completed, Dr Amoh maintained, had a huge economic value even for the communities, save travelling time, energy and fuel cost, adding that, “so far so good. The project is progressing steadily, to deliver volumes of economic prospects for the Western Region, and the West African sub- region.”

Giving an update, the Takoradi Area Manager of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), John Essah Amissah, reported that the 36-month Takoradi- Agona Nkwanta project, executed by Justmoh Construction at the cost of $108.6 million, started in March 2024, would be completed by March 2027.

Presently, he said, the project progress was on course with the rehabilitation of the 3.8 kilometres stretch from Takoradi to Apremdo, adding “we are not changing any alignment, but, we’re put scarifiers, and put the base on it to ensure stabilisation.”

The Apremdo- Agona Nkwanta section, would involve the dualisation to expand and improve the existing single lane into a two-lane highway, with additional links including two concrete bridges at Apremdo and Ewusiejoe, the engineer added.

The existing steel bridges, he added, would give way for the construction of a new concrete bridges to enhance the problem of maintenance of the steel bridges.

He told the journalists the new Apremdo and Ewusiejoe bridges would ease traffic congestion in the corridor and also ensure the free -flow of goods and services along the ECOWAS sub -region.

Resident Engineer and Consultant, Comptran, Kofi Adjei Frempong, also assured that the project sought to deliver quality services to ensure value for money.
