The magic of the FA Cup brings League One Leyton Orient and Premier League champions Manchester City together for a fourth-round battle at Brisbane Road on Saturday afternoon (12:15 kick-off).

The Citizens were humbled by Arsenal in a 5-1 Premier League defeat on Sunday, but Pep Guardiola’s men hammered lower-league opposition when crushing Salford 8-0 in the previous round of the FA Cup.

Orient downed Championship side Derby in round three and the Londoners will be hoping to cause one of the biggest shocks in cup history.

City set for another high-scoring contest

Manchester City are struggling to reach the level which saw them crowned Premier League champions last season, but the Citizens have been involved in plenty of entertaining matches this term.

There have been 43 goals scored in Manchester City’s last eight matches, which is an average of 5.375 per game.

That run of attacking action has seen games finish 8-0, 6-0, 5-1, 4-2 and 4-1 and the goals look set to flow again at Leyton Orient.

Clearly, the champions have a huge class edge on their League One rivals and Guardiola can be expected to field a fairly strong line-up in East London.

Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush, Savinho, Jack Grealish, Matheus Nunes and Ilkay Gundogan are all pushing for a start and the Citizens should have enough quality to turn this into a free-scoring encounter.

Champions should crush League One opposition

Manchester City were outclassed in a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, and while they are back in London to face Leyton Orient, the League One side are a mile off the level of the title-chasing Gunners.

City smashed Salford 8-0 in the last round of the FA Cup, while a 6-0 victory over Ipswich in the Premier League in January indicates that Guardiola's men still have the edge to make light work of limited opposition.

The Citizens can be backed at 19/10 to give Orient a three-goal start on the handicap and that looks to make plenty of appeal.

Corner count could be lower than expected

Manchester City remain a top-level side but they often lack the pace and penetration in wide areas to pile up the corner kicks.

There is evidently plenty of quality in the Citizens’ line-up, but much of the play is likely to be in front of the Leyton Orient defence, and while goals are expected, corners may not follow suit.

City took only two corners against Arsenal on Sunday, they registered seven in their 6-0 victory over Ipswich and got only six when hammering Salford 8-0 in the previous round of the FA Cup.

So, with Orient unlikely to carry too much attacking threat, taking ten or fewer corners could reap the rewards.
