Monday Night Football in the Premier League comes from St James' Park as Newcastle welcome West Ham to the north east.

There's a double helping from Serie A, with Empoli hosting Udinese before Lecce travel to Venezia, while in League Two it's a battle between league leaders Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra, who entered the weekend in second spot.

We have picked out our three best bets for Monday's action.

Bet of the day

Empoli and Udinese to draw – 15/8

After a decent start to the season Udinese’s form has fallen off a cliff, with four defeats in five matches before the international break.

It means they are just a point in front of Empoli ahead of this trip to the Stadio Carlo Castellani. It has been no bed of roses for Empoli either, with just one in their last seven Serie A games stretching back into September.

With four straight losses on the road, Udinese would welcome anything from this contest. Empoli's last-time-out win over Como represented their only home points and only home goal in six games, so neither side is brimming with confidence.

No Serie A team had drawn more games than Empoli entering this round of fixtures and Roberto D'Aversa's side may take another point, as has been the case in three of the previous four meetings between these sides.

Longshot of the Day

Under 2.5 Goals in Newcastle vs West Ham – 11/8

The final Premier League offering of the weekend sees West Ham travelling to Newcastle. The Magpies have only lost one of the last 11 meetings between these two.

After a confidence-boosting success at Nottingham Forest last time, Eddie Howe's side will aim to kick on now but the St James's Park faithful haven't been used to seeing goals flowing of late.

Newcastle's five home Premier League games have produced just eight goals. The Hammers have failed to score in successive games since consigning Erik ten Hag to the sack in October with a 2-1 win over Manchester United at home.

The hosts are worthy favourites but siding with under 2.5 goals looks a decent play for the Monday Night Football offering.

Special of the Day

Port Vale vs Crewe Alexandra Correct Score 0-0 – 7/1

Crewe Alexandra won't have a long journey in front of them when they set off to face League 2 leaders Port Vale on Monday evening, with just 15 miles separating the clubs.

At the top of the fourth tier, five points separate these promotion contenders and there is plenty on the line for the Vale Park clash, aside from local bragging rights.

Port Vale top the table but have enjoyed more success on the road – six wins in nine – than at home, where it is four wins from seven.

These clubs don't tend to produce barnstorming games. Four of their last five meetings have produced just one goal, while the other ended scoreless. Only one side in League Two has conceded fewer goals than Crewe this season and this could easily end in stalemate.
