The festive football feast continues with a whole host of domestic and European action as struggling Man City head to relegation-threatened Leicester and under-fire Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou hosts Wolves.

We have a trio of selections which make up our best bets on the day for Sunday.

Bet of the day

Dundee United to beat Aberdeen - 5/4

It’s seven Scottish Premiership matches without success for Aberdeen, who head for Dundee United in disarray.

The Dons were crushed 4-0 at Kilmarnock on Thursday, prior to that Jimmy Thelin’s men were beaten 3-1 by Hibs at Pittodrie and the buzz surrounding Aberdeen’s season appears to have evaporated pretty quickly.

In fact, Dundee United can move just three points off the third-place Dons with victory at Tannadice and the Terrors look a cracking bet to extend Aberdeen’s nightmare.

Jim Goodwin’s men were good when beating St Johnstone 2-1 in Perth last time out and the Tangerines had previously held champions Celtic to a 0-0 draw on the banks of the Tay.

At 5/4 Dundee United rated the best bet on Sunday’s card.

Special of the day

Over 3.5 goals in Tottenham v Wolves - 4/5

Tottenham’s troubles continued with a 1-0 defeat and Nottingham Forest on Thursday and the luckless Spurs now host a rejuvenated Wolves side.

Ange Postecoglou has copped plenty of flack for failing to alter his forward-thinking tactics and Spurs have conceded 15 goals in their last six matches.

Tottenham have been without first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario, key centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and now full-back Djed Spence is suspended.

It’s difficult to see how Postecoglou can reinforce his defence, given those absentees, and Wolves have hit five goals in their last two matches.

At 4/5 backing over 3.5 goals looks a solid play in what should be anything but a defensively secure clash.

Long shot of the day

Leicester to beat Manchester City - 7/1

It’s a tight turnaround for Premier League teams on Sunday with Leicester and Manchester City meeting just three days after their latest top-flight assignments and it’s City who look in desperate need of a break and change of fortune.

The beleaguered champions have won only one of their last 13 matches, they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Everton on Thursday and rarely have we seen the Citizens in such disarray.

Pep Guardiola remains without the injured Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne has been nothing more than a bit-part player in recent weeks and it’s hard to see any value in offers of 3/10.

Leicester are under relegation pressure, but the Foxes did take the lead against Liverpool on Thursday and City may struggle to peg Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side back if they can repeat the trick.
