Taylor Swift gave her London audience a special surprise gift at her Friday evening concert, debuting her song London Boy in front of the 92,000-strong crowd in Wembley Stadium.

The song, sung here for the first time on Swift’s Eras tour, is one of the stand-out tracks on her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, and reportedly inspired by her long relationship with English actor Joe Alwyn, from whom she split last year.

The other surprise song of the night was Dear John, an older love song about her famous ex-boyfriend, musician John Mayer.

The Daily Mail newspaper reports that Swift became emotional as she was serenaded by the crowd with three minutes of sustained applause, and acknowledged her parents in the crowd.

She told her fans: “’I know I was recording a video of that in my head of that, but I guarantee my parents were just recording that on their phones.

“Everytime I have a sad or bad day from now not only will I have the video in my mind but I’m going to revisit that moment.”

This is the second set of shows this year at the London stadium for Swift, who recently cancelled concerts in Vienna due to reported threats. She made only an elliptical reference to this, wearing a T-shirt on Thursday evening that read, “A lot going on at the moment.”
