Taylor Swift’s fans think the title of her upcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” is a savage nod to the group chat her ex Joe Alwyn shared with his buddies Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.

“JOES GROUPCHAT [sic] W PAUL WAS CALLED THE TORTURED MENS CLUB,” one Swiftie wrote via X, shortly after Swift, 34, announced the project at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday night.

Another added, “apparently, joe and paul mescal’s whatsapp gc was called ‘the tortured mens club’ LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO.”

A third fan expressed enthusiasm over Swift potentially spilling tea about her time with Alwyn.

“I’m actually so obsessed with the concept of this album already,” the person enthused. “’All’s fair in love and poetry’ is giving ‘you treated me the way you did and it’s fair game for me to write about it.’”

Notably, Swift said in her acceptance speech for best pop vocal album for “Midnights” that she had been keeping her forthcoming LP under wraps for two years — which overlaps with her romance with Alwyn.

In 2022, Alwyn, 32, and Mescal, 28, shared with Variety that they were part of a boys-only group chat called “The Tortured Man Club,” founded by Scott, 47.

“[Scott is] just on it every day. He’s just on it by himself,” Mescal said at the time, to which Alwyn joked, “Just messaging himself good mornings.”

Alwyn previously discussed “The Tortured Man Club” in an interview with GQ UK, explaining that the name “is, I guess, a reflection on Connell and Nick,” the role he played in the film “Conversations with Friends.”
