Taylor Swift secretly showed her support for boyfriend Travis Kelce’s football career well before she attended her first game in September.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive coach Dave Merritt revealed this week that the “All Too Well” star actually had been checking out the tight end’s work for a while.

“When she started to come around, it was privately,” Merritt shared during a recent episode of “The Sports Shop With Reese and K-Mac” podcast.

“She was coming into the stadiums without people really knowing until the camera put a big spotlight on it,” he explained. AP He also said he felt the “Cruel Summer” singer changed the tight end for the better. John Angelillo/UPI/Shutterstock

Merritt, 52, also said Swift not only “helped” Kelce change for the better but also brought about positive changes to the team as a whole.

“She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn’t a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy,” Merritt explained. Getty Images

“She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn’t a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy,” Merritt explained.

“So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me and so Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us.”

The former linebacker defended the pop star, 34, against critics and said he considers her to be a “little sister” to the team.

Swift explained to Time magazine that she and Kelce, 34, had started dating shortly after she heard he tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it last summer.

“So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” she told the publication.

“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game?” she added. “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

The “Cruel Summer” singer attended her fair share of football games this season — including the Super Bowl — but upon the season’s conclusion Kelce flew to Australia to support Swift at one of her Eras Tour performances in Sydney.

He left after a whirlwind two-day stay as he and the Chiefs returned to Las Vegas to continue celebrating their Super Bowl win.
