The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda has described teachers as the bedrock of society, shaping the future of the state and nation.

He made this known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammad and made available to newsmen on Saturday to mark the 2024 World Teachers’ Day in Katsina.

The governor reiterated that the Katsina State Government strongly believes in rewarding the teachers on earth, just as he extends heartfelt congratulations to all teachers in Katsina State on the occasion.

According to the statement this year’s theme, “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education” resonates deeply with the governor’s vision for education in the state and he emphasised the critical role of teachers in shaping the future of Katsina and the nation at large.

“Our teachers are the architects of tomorrow, moulding the minds that will lead our state and country forward.

“It is our duty to ensure they are valued, supported, and rewarded adequately for their invaluable contributions,” the statement said.

The statement continued in parts. “In line with this year’s theme, the Radda administration has been actively working to amplify teacher voices and improve their welfare.

“The Governor has initiated a series of reforms aimed at creating a more supportive and rewarding environment for educators.

“These efforts include substantial investments in teacher training, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, and the introduction of performance-based incentives.”

Challenging the popular saying that a teacher’s reward is in heaven, Governor Radda affirmed that “while we acknowledge the eternal value of teaching, we believe in rewarding our teachers here on earth.

“Their dedication deserves immediate recognition and tangible appreciation. This philosophy has translated into concrete actions, with the administration clearing promotion backlogs and conducting timely promotional examinations for eligible officers.

“The Governor’s commitment to education extends beyond teacher welfare. Significant strides have been made in improving educational infrastructure, providing modern teaching aids, and ensuring that schools in Katsina are equipped to deliver quality education.

“These initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy to elevate the standard of education in the state and provide students with the best possible learning environment.

“Governor Radda also highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for teachers.”

He added “We have invested in training programmes to enhance the skills of our teachers, particularly in areas such as computer applications.

“This is crucial in preparing our educators and students for the challenges of the 21st century.”

As Katsina State joined the global community in celebrating World Teachers’ Day, Radda called on all citizens to recognise and appreciate the hard work and dedication of teachers.

“Let us all take a moment to thank the teachers who have impacted our lives and continue to shape the future of our state,” the governor urged.
