Veteran Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has been laid to rest at his hometown in Obosi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi was amongst the personalities who attended the burial of the deceased actor.
Obi is a former governor of Anambra State.
Others who were present were the commissioner for culture, tourism and entertainment Dom Onyenji, and the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas.
AGN president, who a veteran actor represented, Steve Eboh, prayed for the bereaved family, asking that God give them the heart to bear the loss.
In her speech, the state chairman of AGN, Chinyere Anyaegbunam, emphasized that the late Amaechi Muonagor was not just a respected figure, but a father figure in the Nollywood industry.
Muonagor was born on August 20, 1962.
After completing his national service in the NYSC, In 1989, Amaechi worked at NAN briefly before venturing into acting in his first movie as Akunatakasi in Taboo.
In 2016, he was nominated for AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a Comedy.
Famous for his comical roles on screen, he passed away on March 24, 2024, after a protracted battle with a kidney disease.
