The Epic Games Store was already available on PC and Mac, but now it’s launching for Android owners worldwide, and for iOS users in Europe. This might (might) be the beginning of a broader shift in how apps get distributed, particularly on iPhones, leading to a future where you have a variety of app stores on your phone.

This has become something of a crusade for Epic. The company’s antitrust lawsuit against Apple was defeated last year, but it’s managed to succeed in other ways.

Namely: The Epic Games Store is available on iOS thanks to a new law in the European Union called the Digital Markets Act. The flip side is that, when it comes to iOS, the new store is only available in the EU.

In a statement, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said, “The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition.” He added that “the fight is far from over.”

In terms of what games are actually available, the store is starting with Epic titles like Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe, and Fall Guys for mobile. Epic’s plan is to start adding games from third-party developers in December.
