Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis were on-screen rivals in WWE. The former SmackDown General Manager also had a real-life reason to hold a grudge.
Long, Bill Apter and Mac Davis addressed Ronda Rousey’s recent comments about WWE on the Wrestling Time Machine on Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge. Davis was reading an excerpt from Ronda Rousey’s new book, noting that Rousey had called Laurinaitis a “piece of shit” and that she wasn’t holding back.
“You know why she’s not hiding from them? Because she’s telling the truth,” Long proclaimed.
Long said that initially, he felt like Rousey “didn’t give a shit” about the wrestling business. He noted how you could see it in her promos, but now he understands why she’s angry and why made comments about not enjoying her time in WWE.
“I don’t hold my tongue back on John Laurinaitis, one of the worst pieces of shit on the planet,” Long added. “And they can do whatever they want to do to me, I don’t have — you can sue me all you want, but you ain’t going to get much but a ‘Holla, holla, holla.’ So that’s all I can tell you.
“I’m not going to bring nothing through with this, but here’s a man that’s gonna stop me from making a living because of the color of my skin. Not because I wasn’t doing my job. So you’re going to tell me I did my job, I was the [face of SmackDown as the GM] for nine years and you — you know what I’m saying? Let me stop.”
Apter asked Long if he ever spoke with Joe Laurinaitis (Road Warrior Animal) about his brother’s behavior. Long say he couldn’t do that, noting the perception a Black man complaining about a white colleague would create.
