Barcelona have been on a hot run of testing young Spanish strikers in recent years. Marc Guiu was the first young talent the Cataans experimented with, and after his departure, it is now Pau Victor they trust to provide solutions.

In the summer transfer window, however, Joan Laporta and co. had their eyes on a certain Marc Domenech in Mallorca who was said to be one of the brightest young strikers in Spain.

Just when it seemed like the club could lure the player into a transfer, however, Jagoba Arrasate’s side secured a renewal with him and improved his release clause to €4 million.

Situation unchanged

MARCA now bring to light that Domenech still desires a move to Barcelona and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure he can arrive at the Catalan capital next summer.

His agent, Pini Zahavi, is determined to force a departure in June and facilitate a move to Hansi Flick’s side and the matter has not gone down well with the Mallorca hierarchy.

The player was heavily trusted by Jagoba Arrasate at the beginning of the season but has now disappeared from the calls of the first team ever since news of his departure came to light.

Domenech currently plays for Mallorca’s subsidiary team which appears set to be relegated to the Third RFEF division at the end of the season and the player thus hopes to get out of the dynamics at the earliest.

So far this season, the 18-year-old has made three appearances for Mallorca in La Liga and accumulated 115 minutes at the highest level in the process.

As it stands, however, that appears to be his final action in La Liga for this season, with the teenage centre-forward pushing to join Barcelona in the summer.
