In his usual tradition to unfold songs he listens to in the Summer, former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama has included songs by Nigerian musicians, Tems and Rema in his 2024 list.
The 44th American leader unveiled the list via his social media pages on Monday night.
Love Me Jeje by Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Tems and Rema’ YAYO, which was part of the album project HEIS were the only afrobeats songs on the playlist.
Sharing the playlist, Obama wrote, “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”
The Nigerian music stars joined other superstars like Shaboozey, Beyonce, Myles Smith, on the playlist that comprises both classic and new records.
Recall this is not the first time either Tems or Rema had featured on Obama’s annual summer playlist with ‘Calm Down’ making the cut in 2022.
Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Ayrr Star are also other Nigerian artists who have featured in the list.
