Having squandered a two-goal lead to now be trailing 3-2 in the closing stages, Manchester United may just be preparing a club announcement ready for Friday morning…

If this week’s reports are anything to go by, Erik ten Hag is nearing the end of his Red Devils tenure.

It’s thought that the Dutchman had two games to potentially give himself a lifeline in the eyes of INEOS chiefs, assuming he’s able to overturn both FC Porto and Aston Villa convincingly away from home.

Yet, United are now in the closing stages of sustaining defeat in the first of the two fixtures – despite leading 2-0 inside the opening half-hour against Porto.

They proceeded to concede two quickfire goals courtesy of Pepe and Samu Omorodion, with the latter adding to his tally to give his side the lead just five minutes after the interval.

United set woeful goals conceded record

As a result, they have now registered a disastrously unwanted record; per OptaJoe, no Premier League club has conceded three or more goals in a single match more times in all competitions than United since Ten Hag took the reins in 2022, having done so 24 times.

Tonight is the third occasion already this season that the dire feat has unfolded after the Reds were thumped 3-0 by both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the league last month.
