This match is often for the promotion’s World Title, which is a special match that can be a hue moment for anyone involved. Over the weekend, AEW presented its Forbidden Door event, with Swerve Strickland successfully defending the AEW World Title in the main event. According to Fightful Select, Ospreay suggested that he put Strickland over in the match, as he did not want Strickland’s title reign to feel like it was merely a stop on the road before Ospreay won the title at All In. Opinion: It is indeed nice to see Ospreay putting Strickland over, as the theory has been that Ospreay gets the title at All In in his home country. While that is still a possibility, it is nice to see Strickland getting a nice win of his own, as it establishes him as a bigger deal. That should be the case for a World Champion, though it is not the easiest thing in the world to see happen. Ospreay did a good thing here and that is great to see.
