The 2020 Ballon d’Or will not be awarded to Robert Lewandowski

The rumor only existed for a few days on the Spanish side. In recent days, the Spanish press revealed that France Football intended to award the 2020 Ballon d’Or to Robert Lewandowski. Remember, during the Covid period, the French newspaper decided not to organize a Ballon d’Or ceremony despite the XXL season of the Polish striker, winner of the Champions League against PSG and the Bundesliga with exceptional statistics.

Despite his 55 goals and 10 assists in 47 matches, Lewandowski did not win the trophy. France Football justified itself by explaining that for concerns of fairness (not all the Championships had resumed during Covid like the Bundesliga and therefore the players could not have been judged fairly), the BO 2020 would not be assigned. And while a rumor explained that FF was going to correct this situation, Nicolas Manissier, responsible for the Ballon d’Or, denied this at the microphone of RAC1. “I can dispel any doubt and any type of speculation, we are not considering awarding the Ballon d’Or to Robert Lewandowski for 2020. As an institution, we have our own regulations which we strictly respect.” That is clear.
