The Accountant 2 trailer has arrived.
Gavin O’Connor returned to direct the sequel to his original 2016 film, which starred Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal and Cynthia Addai-Robinson among others like John Lithgow and Jean Smart. Bill Dubuque also returned to pen the followup as he did the script for The Accountant.
Simmons, Addai-Robinson and Bernthal will reprise their roles of Ray King, Marybeth Medina and Brax, respectively alongside Affleck’s return as Christian Wolff.
The film will hit theaters April 25, 2025, following Addai-Robinson’s Agent Medina as she has no choice but to reach out to Affleck’s Wolff to solve the mysterious murder of her former boss by unknown assassins. Bernthal’s estranged and highly lethal brother Brax will also get in on the action.
Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, Robert Morgan and Grant Harvey round out the ensemble cast of the pic.
Kendrick is not slated for a return. She will, however, be returning to another Amazon MGM Studios sequel — Another Simple Favor, which will premiere in March at the SXSW Film Festival. That follow-up to 2019’s A Simple Favor, though, will go straight to streaming. The first film was distributed by Lionsgate.
The Accountant’s theatrical release by Warner Bros in 2016 earned it $155M at the worldwide box office, and it was the most-rented film of the year 2017. It is currently streaming on Max.
Artists Equity serves as the studio for the sequel, which was set up at Amazon MGM after Affleck and Matt Damon’s company acquired the sequel rights from Warner Bros. This will be the fourth collaboration between the two companies following Jennifer Lopez’s doc The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the Affleck and Damon’starring sports marketing drama Air, and the upcoming Unstoppable, based on the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles (portrayed by Jharrel Jerome).
