The Apothecary Diaries is one of the most beloved anime TV shows out right now. The Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino has been going strong since 2011, receiving a manga adaptation in 2017, and an anime adaptation produced by Toho Animation Studio and OLM. The TV show aired its first season from October 2023 to March 2024 to huge ratings. Here’s a plot summary: “Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!” Of course, many viewers are curious if and when there will be a Season 2. Keep reading to find out more… The Apothecary Diaries is renewed for Season 2, and it’s arriving in January 2025! The Apothecary Diaries producers teased an announcement in October 2024, confirming Season 2 would be released in January 2025. It will air across two consecutive cours. (In Japanese TV production, a cours is a unit of production that is roughly equivalent to 11 to 13 episodes.) Season 2 will air its first episode on January 10, 2025. The official account revealed a new key visual with Mamao and Jinshi as well. The cast for the anime will remain unchanged, so fans can expect to see all the voice actors reprise their roles from the first season, via Game Rant.
