Partway through September, Apple introduced a selection of new product refreshes across its lineup. We saw the unveiling of the AirPods 4 which introduced noise-canceling to the open-ear model and of course the newest iPhone with the 16 and 16 Pro. Of those announcements was the newest smartwatch — the Apple Watch Series 10. Here we are now at the tail end of September and this Apple Watch is already on sale — great news if you skipped pre-ordering! You can get the 46 mm with a sport band for just $399 — a $30 discount. In fact, the 46 mm is now the launch price of the 42 mm version.
What to Expect With the Apple Watch Series 10
You can get the new Apple Watch in a variety of band and casing choices. This series introduces a jet black case — the Apple Watch’s first polished aluminum finish — with options of a black sports band or ink sports loop. The rose gold aluminum case can be ordered with either the light blush sports band or plum sports loop. A silver aluminum case is available when paired with both the denim sports band and blue cloud sports loop. However, the one seeing the 7% discount is specifically the jet black aluminum case option that comes with the black sports band.
The Series 10 has the largest display on a Apple Watch in the history of the lineup. It comes in a bit larger than that of the Ultra 2 which give the face up to 30% more screen area than the Series 6. This means font sizes can be easier to read and results in a whole additional line of text in apps like iMessage and Mail. While the face is larger, it’s also thinner, coming it at just 9.7 mm. That’s about 10% thinner than the Series 9 model.
A new software feature involves the addition of the Translate app. The Apple Watch is now capable of faster speech recognition and rapid translation so you can navigate conversation with folks speaking in another language with ease.
A handful of new metrics are able to be measured during sleep. The livestream announcing the Apple Watch Series 10 spent significant time discussing sleep apnea — a severely undiagnosed condition affecting individuals’ breathing at night. A new detection algorithm based on a dataset of clinical grade sleep apnea tests can inform the wearer if signs of sleep apnea is detected so they may then consult their doctor for treatment.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is available right now on Amazon. If you’re specifically interested in the 46 mm jet black casing with the black sports band, well then great news. You can get it for $30 off at just $399.
