Karim Benzema’s lawyer spoke about Olivier Giroud this week as part of his client’s defense.

Me Hugues Viguier, Karim Benzema’s lawyer, spoke this week to defend the French striker following accusations from Gérald Darmanin, who had mentioned “a notorious link” between the footballer and the Muslim Brotherhood. To defend his client, Benzema’s lawyer drew a parallel with Olivier Giroud, who does not hesitate to demonstrate transparency in relation to his Christian religion.

It is said that he would do a sort of proselytism. What do you say to Olivier Giroud who says he prays before every match?, sMr. Hugues Viguier is questioned. That doesn’t shock me. But he’s a Christian and that’s not a problem, he said. When it is Benzema who says that he is a believer, we must believe that Islam is the religion which poses a problem. He has no right to say that he is happy to make his pilgrimage. We must have the same respect for everyone. Karim Benzema has always been labeled a bad boy. »

A statement which obviously did not go unnoticed given the history between the two scorers. Benzema and Giroud have often been compared, even opposed, despite themselves. The Real Madrid legend also provoked the current AC Milan striker by comparing himself to “ an F1 » and calling Giroud “ karting“. Paltry considerations compared to the affair which concerns the 2022 Ballon d’Or, violently singled out by a minister for having expressed his support for the inhabitants of Gaza.
