Forced into a draw by Friborg (0-0), the Lensois suffered the blow after their Europa League play-off first leg.

RC Lens has preserved the essentials. Long dominated by Fribourg, the Sang et Or even got off lightly by conceding a draw (0-0) at Bollaert. Questioned after the meeting, Florian Sotoca was well aware of this and regretted Lens’ performance.

“We came up against a great team, we knew that. We didn’t play the match we wanted to play, even though we had chances.”he whispered, adding: “There was technical waste, a lack of intensity. We didn’t know how to squeeze them as we wanted. They bothered us a lot on the ball exits. The important thing when you are less good is not to lose the match. Everything is possible for the return match.

The Lensois will have to present a completely different face next week in Germany.
