EXCLUSIVE: Nexa Media’s The Change Africa Podcast is back for a sixth season with Peace Hyde, creator and executive producer of Netflix’s Young, Famous & African, and veteran artist James Barnor headlining.
The new season launched today to coincide with Ghana’s 68th Independence Day. The series will broadly focus on the topics of African self-definition and how storytelling can be used as a tool for solidarity and progress.
Other season six guests include Maudo Jallow, a geopolitical analyst and visiting fellow at LSE, Africa Communications Media Group founder Mimi Kalinda, and Victoria and Anna Agyekum, co-founders of On Point Property Management.
Episode one features Barnor discussing his photography practice. Barnor is one of the most important artists of his generation. Born in 1929 in Ghana, Barnor’s decades-long career crossed studio portraiture, photojournalism, and lifestyle photography. His work has been the subject of major exhibitions at Serpentine and Tate Modern in London and MoMA in New York.
“This is my very first time on a podcast, and I’m truly delighted to share my journey with a whole new audience,” Barnor told us. “I’ve spent my life capturing moments, keeping the legacy of photography alive, and now, on the Change Africa Podcast, I’m opening up in ways I’ve never done before, especially about the tales of those forgotten legends I crossed paths with. It’s an honor to toss my voice into this mix, helping keep our heritage breathing.”
The Change Africa Podcast is produced by Isaac Aboah and Daniel Merki and executive produced by Tim Yaw Struthers.
Struthers added: “African storytelling is evolving—bold, unfiltered, and breaking free from outdated narratives. As we launch Season 6 of the Change Africa Podcast, we are delighted to welcome Peace Hyde, James Barnor, and an exceptional lineup of visionary leaders, disruptors, and changemakers who are challenging the past, shaping the present, and defining the future.”
