After more than twelve years at the head of the French team, Didier Deschamps has therefore decided to leave the bench of the Coupe de France at the end of the next World Cup, that is to say at the end of his contract. “ I’ve been here since 2012, I’m scheduled until 2026, the next World Cup. It will stop there because it has to stop there at some point “, he confided in an interview with TF1.
The announcement was warmly received, even by some of his fiercest detractors like Christophe Dugarry who was certainly delighted with his future departure but wished him the best for the next World Cup. But some very harshly criticized his announcement. This is particularly the case of Michel Moulin, the former sports advisor of PSG.
“I accept the resignation of Didier Deschamps”
“ It’s dramatic, it’s disrespectful. I may have dead people who are strong, but it’s a boy who is disrespectful, he railed at the microphone of Sud Radio. He also uses the Yellow Coins. We were there to listen to the Yellow Pieces, for sick children, and we only talk about him. This is unacceptable. But this is not the first time, he is disrespectful to the president, to the federation. But this also shows that our president is not a boss. Deschamps decides everything on his own. »
“I’ve never seen that. In a company, that doesn’t exist. The guy does what he wants. This boy is disrespectful,” he continued before demanding nothing less than his departure: “What should the president of the federation have done? I am Diallo today, if I am truly courageous, I say the next morning, I accept the resignation of Didier Deschamps, but it is immediate. I accept the resignation and goodbye Sir. I change the next morning. I announce his resignation, he can take me to the industrial tribunal if he wants. I’m not firing anyone, it’s him who wants to leave. »
“In any case, I’m not keeping Deschamps. Immediate. Do you realize what that means for the players? It’s a complete mess afterwards, he whispered again.
This is why we need to fire Deschamps immediately. You fire Deschamps and you put Zidane. You tell him: “Sir, you have just resigned, goodbye”
