The disastrous stat on Barça’s poor form

FC Barcelona is in a bad situation. Well behind Real and Girona in the league and losing the Spanish Super Cup final, Xavi’s men were sharply eliminated from the Copa del Rey last night by Athletic Bilbao (4-2). Barça again conceded a lot of goals, including the first in the first minute of play. This is the third time this season that the Catalan club has conceded a goal so quickly in the game, as many as in the 18 previous seasons combined (two in 2011/12 and one in 2014/15) according to Opta.

Barça welcomes Villarreal on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) to try to follow the lead and hope for a better end to the season in La Liga. Lewandowski and his team will also have in a few weeks the double confrontation against Napoli in the Champions League to give flavor to a season which is sorely lacking in Catalonia.
