NXT took over the 2300 Arena for their November 6 episode and it was truly a night of pure nostalgia for fans of ECW, as the young generation and old generation worked together to create a memorable show.
At first, it appeared as if Bubba Ray Dudley might turn down the match, but he ended up teaming with Trick Williams to face Ridge Holland and “All Ego” Ethan Page. During the match, Trick hit a powerful move called the Book End, but his attempt to pin was stopped. Ethan then nearly hit his finishing move, the Ego’s Edge, on Trick, but Bubba stepped in to stop it.
Out of nowhere, Ridge Holland rolled up Trick Williams and pinned him, ending the match with a surprise win. After the match, Ridge and Ethan attacked Trick, but Bubba fought them off, and he and Trick celebrated with the fans despite their loss.
Bubba and Trick also did some classic Dudley Boyz moves, with Bubba setting Trick up for a big move through a table. At first there wasn’t a table, but D-Von Dudley came out with one, exciting the Philadelphia crowd.
WWE took to their official Twitter account and uploaded a video of Trick Williams alongside Bubba and D-Von Dudley after his loss. Trick Williams noted that he shouldn’t have lost like that and he was furious, adding that he is better than that. D-Von advised Williams that losing is natural in professional wrestling but what matters is to learn from it. D-Von told Williams he would see a lot of success as he is a hell of a talent, so he advised Williams to keep his head up and never look down.
“Listen, we all lose. We’ve lost many a times. We’ve been successful at it, and when I mean success, even though we’ve lost, we’ve had a lot of successful matches after that. You’re young, you’re hungry and you’re a hell of a talent, so keep your head up and don’t you dare look down.”
We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book Trick Williams in the coming weeks, as it’s clear that he and Ridge Holland will begin a proper feud soon enough.
