New changes for the end of the Ligue 1 season: the LFP announced that the 34th and final day moved from Saturday May 18 to Sunday May 19. OM will play in Le Havre, three days before a potential Europa League final.
The paths of PSG and OM to the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Europa League shake up the entire end of Ligue 1. As in the quarter-finals of their respective European competition, the Rouge et Bleu and the Phocaeans will not play in the league between their home and away matches against Borussia Dortmund (May 1 and 7) and Atalanta (May 2 and 9). They will play twice in the last week of Ligue 1.
However, the LFP announced this Wednesday that the multiplex of the 34th and final day was suddenly postponed from Saturday May 18 to Sunday May 19. All nine matches will be played at the same time, starting at 9 p.m. Three weeks before the weekend in question, the rescheduling of the last day is enough to upset the plans of the supporters who had made arrangements to go to the stadium.
The Europa League final three days later
This multiplex pushed back to Sunday allows PSG and OM to breathe a little, after having played the previous Sunday then Wednesday 15 (Nice-PSG and Reims-OM). But the new calendar seems strange as the Phocéens, traveling to Le Havre on Sunday 19th, will potentially play the Europa League final the following Wednesday (22nd in Dublin), in the event of qualification against the Bergamo team.
In addition to Le Havre-OM, the Toulouse-Brest, Lille-Nice, Lens-Montpellier, Monaco-Nantes, Reims-Rennes, Lorient-Clermont and Metz-PSG posters could all be decisive in the race for Europe or the fight for remaining in Ligue 1. Only the OL-Strasbourg match should not have any sporting issues.
