A deadline has been set for the next England Head Coach.

For anybody expecting/hoping for a quick replacement for Gareth Southgate to be announced, you’ll be disappointed.

As The FA have today put up an advert (see below) for the England Head Coach vacancy.

If you think you have what it takes to be the next Gareth Southgate, make sure you apply by 2 August 2024.

That gives you two weeks to get your CV together.

What it means as well of course, is that this deadline for applying to try and get the England Head Coach post is only two weeks before the 2024/25 Premier League season kicks off.

Surely The FA can’t then seriously be thinking that a current Premier League manager can successfully be targeted just as the season is set to kick off?

Somebody such as say… Eddie Howe?

Not that I ever thought he would be up for leaving Newcastle United to take up this England Head Coach post.

However, surely the way The FA are going about it, must mean that it is going to be somebody currently out of work, or Lee Carsley who is currently the England Under 21s boss.
