Susan Lucci waited a while to be honored for her contributions to daytime television. So she’s cautious about any role she might have in future editions of The Golden Bachelorette.

Lucci, age 77 and star of daytime drama All My Children, talked to People and said that she’s a recent Bachelor franchise fan, and said that there was some outreach to her camp about a potential involvement with the Golden Bachelorette series.

“I believe that they contacted my publicist, and it wasn’t for me,” Lucci said. “I watched The Golden Bachelor. I really enjoyed watching The Golden Bachelor. This is a new addiction for me.”

Lucci’s interest in the show was sparked by her assistant.

“My assistant told me she was going home to watch The Bachelor with her daughters,” she recalled. “She said, ‘Well, it’s really good.’ I watched it. The first time I watched it was that night a couple seasons ago. I was immediately engaged. I cared. I wanted to know more about these people.”

Lucci liked the show, but “I didn’t pursue [it] when they called my publicist to see if I would be interested.

“It wasn’t for me, but I do love watching,” she added. “I’m a fan.”

People tried to confirm the ABC and Warner Bros. potential interest. A source told the publication that Lucci was not offered a role.

Joan Vassos, 61, has been announced as the first Golden Bachelorette for this fall.
