Matt Hardy reveals that the Hardys have no plans to retire any time soon.
Jeff and Matt Hardy returned to TNA in 2024, following a mixed run in AEW. They now hold the TNA World Tag Team Championships and have been rejuvenated in the twilight of their careers.
The pair recently sat down with Stew Myrick of Sports Guys Talk Wrestling, where Matt Hardy revealed that the brothers have no plans to retire any time soon. He added that they want to wrestle until they can’t any longer, citing Dustin Rhodes as somebody who inspires him.
“I think if you would have asked us this a couple years ago, um, maybe it would have been different. But just this run in TNA and the way we build people physically, like you said, these ice baths, the inflammation is down, and just our bodies feel better. It’s a ritual we do every single morning whenever we get up, and we’re definitely dedicated to it. It’s in our routine, no doubt,” Matt Hardy said.
“Now, I don’t think so. I don’t think we’re putting any kind of concrete amount of time on this. We’re going to ride the spiral until it ends. You know what I mean? We’re going to give and give and give everything we have until we can’t do this anymore.”
Matt Hardy Calls Dustin Rhodes ‘Inspiring’
“And I love the fact that Dustin is still going so hard. Dustin, by the way, is an amazing guy. Huge fan of Dustin, huge fan of Dustin. His story about getting sober and his sobriety, and how serious he takes it—it’s just inspiring. I love the fact that he’s still killing it in the ring. He’s killing it every time he steps out there. So he’s very inspiring for an older guy, or a guy that’s aged a little more, like I am,” said Matt Hardy
“But yeah, I think Jeff and I, I don’t think we’re necessarily putting any kind of date or window on when to hang it up. You know, when to hang up the boots. I think we’re just going to go until we don’t feel like we can go anymore.”
