The LG StanbyME monitor has caught our eye, and it happens to be over $100 off (bringing the price down to $897). So what is this thing exactly? Well it’s part monitor, part TV, part tablet. It blurs the lines of the various display’s you’ll interact with on a daily basis. It’s a freestanding 27″ smart TV that is battery-powered so you can easily take it anywhere in your home.
Maybe you’re the type of person who always like to throw on some longform video essay while doing tasks around the house. Well now this is a souped-up way of doing just that. Bring it down into the laundry room while you’re folding your clean clothes, you can set it up in the kitchen while you’re chopping up vegetables to prepare dinner, pull up tutorials while working on a project in the garage, and then take it bedside so you can fall asleep to the sounds of Jenny Nicholson putting the Disney World Star Wars hotel on blast.
How Portable Is This Thing Exactly?
The LG StanbyME has a 27″ display that renders in 1080p HD. The stand has an adjustable height and underneath the base of the unit are hidden five wheels so it can easily be pushed around your home. You can switch easily between horizontal and vertical viewing and the display is on a swivel allowing it to rotate around 360 degrees in any direction once placed down.
Being battery powered, the display does not require to be near an outlet while in use and that also means you won’t have any pesky wires trailing being your when you go to move it.
The freestanding smart TV uses NFC so you can wirelessly mirror content from your phone, laptop, or tablet with ease. It also supports AirPlay 2 to stream your content seamlessly. It’s compatible with HomeKit, allowing you to control power, input, and volume with the Home app or Siri on your Apple devices.
Also, the LG StanbyME uses a touchscreen interface as well as a remote, giving you the option of what’s better for you in any given conditions.
Sound quality is serviceable, but you can take it even further with the help of the companion accessory in the LG StanbyME Speaker which pack powerful sound.
Personally, I love the beige coloring of the monitor’s trim, stand, and base. Goes nicely with and modern home’s interior design. The LG StanbyME monitor normally goes for $1,000, but right now you can save yourself a little more than 10%, at the new price of $896.
