He is only 19 years old, but for fans of Spanish football or nugget scouts, the name Luka Romero has been firmly anchored in people’s minds for years already. Remember, in June 2020, at just 15 years old, he became the youngest player to play in La Liga. Under the colors of Mallorca, his training club, the Argentine attacking midfielder who also has Spanish and Mexican nationalities was inevitably compared to a certain Lionel Messi. It must be said that beyond a small physical resemblance, being a fairly small player with a very low center of gravity, there were a lot of similarities in the way of playing, all things considered obviously.
Behind, after a season in the second division following the relegation of the island club during which he was also able to show his quality on several occasions, he left for Lazio. In Serie A, however, he had to be content with occasional appearances, which seemed rather logical given his young age, but it was enough to show, once again, undeniable qualities. It is no coincidence that AC Milan set their sights on him last summer. However, he did not benefit from a lot of playing time, with 4 small appearances in Serie A, for 86 minutes in total. A difficult situation for the 19-year-old who has now reached a stage in his career where he needs to play a little more regularly.

As indicated by numerous media, Luka Romero has asked to leave Milan temporarily. After two and a half seasons with relatively little playing time, he intends to play regularly and is exploring various options. The Monza track came out in Italy, while in Spain Cadiz, Alavés and Almeria came to the news for a loan. He has already ruled out Italian and Spanish D2 proposals, wishing to evolve at the highest possible level. In Argentina, there is also talk of a pronounced – and reciprocal – interest from Boca Juniors for the U20 international with the Albiceleste.
“He wants to play and he can go on loan. Luka really likes Boca. Leaders must come to an agreement. I spoke with him, we are waiting to see if the possibility appears,” said the player’s grandfather in comments reported by A.S.. After falling a little behind other Argentinian hopefuls like Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United), Valentin Barco (Brighton) or Claudio Echeverri (River Plate – Manchester City), Romero must make the right choice this winter to finally find a little stability…
