Nickelodeon has renewed animated series The Patrick Star Show for Seasons 4 and Season 5, each consisting of 13 episodes.

If the news comes as a surprise for some who don’t remember the SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff being renewed for a third season, they are not wrong.

Originally picked up to series with a 26-episode order, The Patrick Star Show was renewed for a 26-episode second season in March 2022, halfway through its freshman run.

A decision was subsequently made to split the second installment into two seasons (2 and 3) to keep their sizes more consistent with the season lengths currently consumed on streaming where all shows unlimitedly end.

Today’s renewal, announced at the SpongeBob SquarePants NYCC panel, matches the timing and the size of the previous one — it too is for 26 episodes total and comes halfway through the run of the previously picked up 26 episodes. But this time, it is being unveiled as a 2-season order from the get-go.

The 12-episode second season ended its run in August, with Season 3, plus a supersized holiday special, launching earlier this week.

The Patrick Star Show, the second SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff, stars Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) and the rest of his family as they are constantly disrupted by his wild whims and surreal imagination.

During the panel, The Patrick Star Show revealed a clip from the upcoming “Thanks But No Thanksgiving” episode, in which where the Stars celebrate Thanksgiving with Bunny’s side of the family in Klopnod, and first-look images of the half-hour holiday special “Squidina’s Holidaze Special,” where Squidina has to direct her school holiday play, but her script was mangled by Patrick.
