Manchester United have already decided that two players will not be with the club next season, while others are on the chopping block but with their futures undecided.
Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen are both into the final year of their contracts at Old Trafford and the decision has already been taken for them to leave when their deals expire.
The Manchester Evening News reports that a sale could even be made in the January transfer window, but both men are certainly in their final few months with the club.
Eriksen is into his third season with the Red Devils and looks set to be a bit-part player this season, as does Lindelof who has been with the club since joining from Benfica in 2017.
The Swedish international is yet to make an appearance this season but has made 259 in all competitions for Manchester United.
Veteran defender Jonny Evans also sees his contract expire at the end of the season and it is unlikely his playing days with the club will continue beyond that.
Less clear is the future of Harry Maguire, whose contract runs out in June 2025, but the club have an option to extend it by a further year.
The 31-year-old has played in all three Premier League games so far this season for the Red Devils, starting two of them.
However, with Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt now available and Leny Yoro to return from injury, the Englishman will fall down the pecking order.
22-year-old winger Amad Diallo is also into the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, but the club also has the option to extend by a further 12 months and they certainly will do that rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer.
Manchester United return after the international break with a trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Erik ten Hag will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats against Brighton and Liverpool.
