Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out of his team’s match against Watford in the Carabao Cup.

The attacker has been granted time off for personal reasons this week but he is expected to return in time for the match against Newcastle United.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Man City star has flown back to Norway after the death of a family friend.

Haaland has been the standout player for his team this season, scoring ten Premier League goals in just five matches this season.

He has taken the Sky Blues to the top of the league once again with his fine form.

The Norwegian is the outstanding leader of the Premier League golden boot race once again and not many would bet against him winning the individual award again.

Despite dealing with personal issues away from the pitch, the striker has been in fine form for his club and he has not let off the pitch problems affect his form on the pitch.

After the passing of Ivar Eggja, a close family friend of Erling Haaland who had attended both his Etihad Stadium unveiling and the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony, Man City’s first-team squad came together to support the striker.

Haaland was deeply affected by the loss, but his teammates and club staff rallied around him, offering their full support during this challenging period.

The response underscores the strong sense of unity within the City squad, extending beyond just football.

Erling Haaland will be back at Man City for the Newcastle match

Haaland was offered compassionate leave by Man City after Eggja’s passing but chose to stay with the team for their Premier League matches against Brentford and Arsenal, as well as the Champions League fixture against Inter Milan.

He is expected to be available for City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.

As per the report, a funeral is set to take place in Norway this week, and Man City have allowed Haaland to leave the first-team squad ahead of the League Cup fixture to attend and pay his respects.
