The Rock’s appearance in WWE leading up to WrestleMania 40 created tons of hype and excitement and it led to him teaming up with Roman Reigns and wrestle against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. He hasn’t been seen in a while and it appears WWE is having internal discussions to have The Rock and Roman Reigns appear on RAW after its move to Netflix.

WWE and Netflix have confirmed major deal to move Monday Night RAW to the streaming platform starting in January 2025. The groundbreaking agreement, reportedly valued at over $5 billion and set to last for ten years, was officially announced on January 23. This move has taken fans by surprise, marking a significant shift for WWE’s flagship show from traditional television to streaming.

While speaking on his Dirty Sheets podcast via Patreon, Billi Bhatti revealed that there are ongoing internal discussions within WWE about how to get The Rock and Roman Reigns onto Netflix. He mentioned that John Cena’s return and his one-year deal, which The Rock played a significant role in securing, are part of WWE’s efforts to address the situation involving The Rock’s appearances on the USA Network with Cody Rhodes.

Bhatti noted that although The Rock was crucial in securing the Netflix deal and promised that both he and Reigns would appear on the platform, neither is currently confirmed for Netflix in the long run. He expects that Rock and Roman will likely feature in the first episode of RAW on Netflix.

However, given that Roman Reigns is associated with the SmackDown brand and The Bloodline storyline, and Cody Rhodes will be on SmackDown, it appears that SmackDown might be the initial destination for The Rock unless a solution is found, and internal discussions are ongoing about this.

“There are internal discussions in WWE about how they’re going to get The Rock and Roman Reigns on Netflix. There’s a strong belief that the reason John Cena has been brought back and put on a one-year deal—which The Rock was heavily instrumental in—is because WWE wants to combat the situation they’re in. That situation involves The Rock showing up on the USA Network for his program with Cody Rhodes.”

While The Rock was instrumental in securing the Netflix deal and guaranteed that he and Reigns would be appearing on Netflix, at the moment, those two aren’t set to be on Netflix. I’m sure Rock and Roman will be on the first episode of RAW on Netflix, but we know Roman Reigns is on the SmackDown brand, with The Bloodline storyline on SmackDown, and Cody Rhodes will be there. That looks like the initial destination for The Rock unless they can find a way to work around this, and there are internal discussions about that.”

Roman Reigns has been absent since the August 16th edition of Friday Night SmackDown but is expected to return during the September 13th edition of SmackDown. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether The Rock and Roman Reigns will make their way to Netflix for a longer sting eventually.

With WWE’s move to Netflix in 2025 and the ongoing discussions about featuring The Rock and Roman Reigns on RAW, how do you think their involvement will impact WWE’s shift to streaming, and what storylines or matches would you like to see unfold on this new platform?
